Trauma and Abuse Counselling

Gentle support to help you feel safe, understood and whole again
Trauma can leave an imprint long after the experience itself has passed.

You may find yourself constantly on alert, struggling to trust, reacting strongly to situations you don’t fully understand, or feeling disconnected from yourself and the people around you.

Whether your experiences happened recently or many years ago, you deserve a space where you feel safe, heard and supported.

At Happiness Within, we gently explore how your experiences may have shaped your emotions, relationships, beliefs and nervous system — helping you reconnect with safety, self-worth and the person you are beneath what happened to you.

Healing does not have to mean repeatedly returning to your most painful experiences.

Sometimes being heard and acknowledged is an important part of the process. But healing can also involve understanding the patterns that developed to protect you, learning to feel safe in the present, developing self-compassion, strengthening boundaries and creating new ways of responding to life.

You decide the pace. You decide what you are ready to explore.

Understanding

Trauma & Absuse

When something feels frightening, overwhelming or unsafe, your mind and body naturally respond in ways designed to protect you.

Those protective responses can sometimes remain long after the danger has passed. Certain people, situations, sounds, smells or experiences may unexpectedly activate feelings connected to the past, even when you consciously know you are safe now. Traumatic experiences can become associated with sensory cues and later trigger automatic stress responses.

This is why healing is more than simply telling yourself to "move on".

It is about gently helping your mind and body experience safety again.
